Head Start Classroom Aide

Opening in Buffalo.

Job Summary:

The purpose of the Classroom Aide is to assist in the implementation of program activities, including the daily routine tasks that establish the basic foundation for a healthy and safe environment for Head Start children.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or enrolled in a GED program.
  • Must be currently working toward obtaining a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), have obtained a CDA, Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree. Those that are working on their Child Development Associate Credential must obtain it within 2 years of being hired.
  • Experience or ability to work with pre-school children.

  • Ensure that the center site is maintained in accordance with local, state and national program standards and licensing requirements
  • Follow all sanitation guidelines by washing, cleaning and sanitizing all food related surfaces, utensils and flooring

  • Set up/tear down center equipment
  • Purchase all required groceries
  • Maintain proper storage of food and utensils
  • Serve breakfast/lunch/snack family-style to children
  • Complete all CACFP food paperwork in a timely manner

Family Advocate

Working with families in Monticello.

Job Summary:

The Family Advocate creates coordination between Head Start services and community resources in order to foster strength and healthy living in our client’s lives. This role provides support in a case management style and acts as a liaison between families, staff, the community and other family-related resources.

Education and Experience:
  • Must have either a Bachelor’s (BA/BS) or Associate (AA/AAS) degree in Early Childhood Education, Family Development, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other similar human services related fields.
  • Must meet State Licensing requirements for First Aid Training, CPR, physical examination, and Applicant Background Studies.
  • Experience and ability to work with non-English speaking parents and children.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with inter-agency preschool education, human services, and related providers.
  • Knowledge and experience in Head Start or Early Childhood programs.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Recruit children and families for Head Start and provide recruitment activities in assigned communities.
  • Assist with conducting eligibility interviews to determine program eligibility.
  • Assist teachers in the Head Start classrooms as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary documentation of services, activities and communications with families.
  • Build positive, goal-oriented relationships with families that honor and are responsive to the languages and cultures of the families served.
  • Connect families with resources and assist families in accessing essential on-going social, financial, educational and emergency services for children and families.
  • Assists managers, coordinators and specialists in providing parent training.
  • Conduct a minimum of 2 home visits per family per program year.
  • Work cooperatively with service area coordinators and specialists to ensure that individual services are integrated into a comprehensive program.

Head Start Assistant Teacher

Opening in Buffalo & Howard Lake.

Job Summary:

The purpose of the Assistant Teacher is to assist the Head Teacher with planning and daily implementation of the Head Start center-based activities for low-income families and children. This includes implementation and monitoring of center activities including classroom activities, conducting tooth brushing, use of restroom and handwashing, documenting attendance, taking developmental observations and maintaining a required staff to child ratio at all times when children are present. A primary duty is to maintain a clean and safe learning environment including washing and sanitizing all food related surfaces and classroom areas, and putting into practice WCCA’s Head Start nutrition standards.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Family Development, Social Work, or other human services related field or have a Preschool Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or are working toward obtaining a Child Development Associate Credential. A State awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a Preschool CDA credential is also acceptable.
  • Classroom or Head Start experience as an Early Childhood Educator.

  • To put into practice, WCCA Head Start's nutrition standards including grocery acquisition, food service, sanitation, recordkeeping, and occasional meal planning.
  • Act as a bus monitor on assigned routes.
  • To assist Head Teacher with implementation and monitoring of center activities including conducting tooth brushing, use of restroom and handwashing, documenting attendance, taking developmental observations and maintaining a required staff to child ratio at all times when children are present.

Head Start Site Supervisor

  • Provide leadership to ensure delivery of a highly integrated early childhood education program for families, providing increased School Readiness outcomes.
  • Supervise, mentor, provide training for, and evaluate direct reports.
  • Schedule staff as needed ensuring adult to child ratio is followed.
  • Mentor and train Head Start staff on curriculum development, procedures, and policies.
  • Assist in conducting children's developmental screenings, submit referrals as needed, and follow up on appropriate paperwork with Special Education.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local program regulations.
  • Represent WCCA Agency at appropriate inter-agency committees, school district meetings and events, and community partnership meetings and events.
  • Monitor effective systems for service delivery including documentation, training, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Work cooperatively with Head Start staff, other WCCA Agency staff, and partner agencies to plan, share new information and ideas, problem solve, and develop new methods to ensure high quality services are being delivered to children.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports needed to comply with federal, state, and local regulations and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Ensure staff are recording appropriate data and provide evaluation of data specific to assigned area, and share data with others as needed for program improvement.
  • Support and monitor professional development of staff in accordance with individual, program, and agency initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with staff to plan, reflect, share information and ideas, build skills, and problem solve.
  • Provide information for budget development and implement resources with fiscal integrity.
  • Attend appropriate local and state trainings, meetings, and network groups to stay informed of new initiatives and trends in Head Start.
  • Provide volunteer management, training, and evaluations.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Housing Advocate

Job Summary:

The Housing Advocate position is part of the Housing department within WCCA’s Community Services division and supports individuals and families in achieving and maintaining housing stability. WCCA’s Housing programs provide support to community members facing foreclosure or homelessness. The Housing Advocate supports individuals and families in achieving and maintaining housing stability. This position focuses on outreach, participant support, and program administration, including responding to inquiries, explaining eligibility requirements, and providing assessment, case management, and referrals.

Education and Experience:
  • An associate’s degree or related occupational degree or certification with related education, training, or experience in family financial management, foreclosure prevention, lending, housing, or a related interdisciplinary field preferred.
  • Knowledge of housing programs and causes of homelessness is preferred.
  • Recent work experience or training in housing and/or economic assistance programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with other agencies/organizations in the scope of mortgage foreclosure prevention, financial assistance, housing, and others as needed to effectively coordinate client services preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of incoming and ongoing clients simultaneously, as well as the ability to maintain accurate and uniform records on behalf of clients.
  • Ability to relate in a courteous and professional manner, displaying sensitivity and caring attitude toward all housing participants.
  • Obtain certifications as needed to advise clients in various housing programs.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use a computer and data entry software.

  • Effectively communicate with participants, program management, funders, and community partners to assure continuity of operations.
  • Complete essential training courses for occupational certifications as directed.

Head Start Coach Mentor

Job Summary:

The Coach Mentor is responsible to provide CLASS observations and mentor coaching, overall classroom support and follow-up for WCCA Head Start teachers and staff at our center based programs located in Wright and Western Hennepin County. This position will ensure teachers are getting direction and supervision needed to successfully teach and implement the assigned curricula and practices which promote high quality learning and school readiness for Head Start participants.

Education and Experience:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education, OR
  • A Bachelor’s or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education, with experience teaching preschool-age children
  • Experience teaching preschool children and Head Start program operations.
  • Experience or ability to train/mentor Head Start teaching staff.
  • Experience or ability to work with groups of parents and individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate, up to date records and data tracking.
  • Must have access to transportation for regular business travel.
  • Must be available for occasional evening activities.
  • Must meet State Licensing requirements for First Aid and CPR certification, Child Passenger Safety training, physical examination, and pass a MN DHS required background study.
  • Must become a certified CLASS observer within 90 days of hire.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Develop individual practice based coaching plans and professional development plans with staff, including specific goals and areas of growth identified, based on classroom and teacher observations.
  • Implement the Practice-Based Coaching model by following the cyclical process of goal setting and action planning, focused observations, and reflection and feedback.
  • Implement data-informed individual mentor coaching plans, provide constructive feedback, and support teaching staff for learning and growth. This may include activities, reading material, side-by-side support, modeling, discussion, video recording, or other resources as needed to guide learning.
  • Utilize best practices in early childhood development based on Head Start Performance Standards, Creative Curriculum, CLASS, and other prescribed curricula used at WCCA.
  • Implement and assure compliance with all policies, procedures, and approved activities of WCCA and the Head Start program, to attain all program objectives and meet Head Start Program Performance Standards and the Head Start Act.
  • Assist Education Coordinator in overseeing the implementation of curriculum tools and activities used by teaching staff, to measure federally mandated outcomes for enrolled children, evaluated through Creative Curriculum Fidelity observations.
  • Plan and provide training and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Train and support new staff as directed by the Education Coordinator.
  • Represent WCCA and maintain professional job related skills and abilities by participating in pertinent training, workshops, conferences, and meetings.
  • Ensure that teaching staff are monitored for quality interactions and provide suggestions to work with children, including those with special needs/disabilities.
  • Support the program’s School Readiness Goals and Family and Community Engagement Goals.
  • Prepare and submit regular manual and computerized reports and other related program activities and accomplishments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Type: This position is on a contract for 1,720 annual hours. The contract will start August 9, 2026. 2 months of summer off.

Food Shelf Volunteer Driver

Job Summary:

The volunteer driver at Wright County Community Action (WCCA) provides multiply services for food security throughout Wright County. Our current services include Food Rescue pick-ups, Backpack deliveries, Mobile Food Shelf and Emergency Food Box deliveries. WCCA also does some home deliveries to clients who have no transportation or are disabled.

Our mission is to provide food support to low-income community members by providing food deliveries for each program.


Education and Experience:
  • Experience navigating routes in a timely manner.
  • Experience in keeping accurate records and maintaining organized files.
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making skills and resourcefulness.
  • Have good communication skills with staff and partners we deliver to.
