Grants and Compliance Accountant
Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for post-award grant administration and related project accounting. The Grant and Compliance Accountant provides internal support and accounting functions to program managers and agency leadership for the organization’s government grants, foundation grants, and restricted donations. This position is responsible to maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and funder requirements. Duties include support of payroll, AP, AR and journal entries; assisting with the budget and audits; completing monthly and year-end grant and fund close procedures, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports as needed.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Review grant contracts
-
Record revenue and expenses for each assigned fund
-
Monitor budget to actual in coordination with program managers and others
-
Report expenses and submit invoices to funders
-
Close-out grants
-
Monitor compliance, communicate and enforce established internal control practices
-
Ensure that accounting records are maintained for assigned programs, as required by program regulations and generally accepted accounting principles.
-
Assist with reconciliation of accounts;
-
Complete journal entries as needed;
-
Assist in preparation for program and agency audits and monitoring visits;
-
Assist with application of cost allocation plan;
-
Advise and implement new procedures as needed;
-
Provide back-up for Payroll and A/P; support 1099 completion and distribution;
-
Assist others in the administrative and fiscal department with special projects, and other duties as assigned;

Education and Experience (Minimum Requirements):

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required;

Grants and Compliance Training provided;

Three years of related experience preferred;

Experience in a non-profit is preferred;

Family Advocate, Non-Exempt, Full-Time (Contract), Onsite
Assigned Work Centers /Locations: Annadale and Otsego
Wage: Starting $23.47 per hour
Job Summary:
The Family Advocate creates coordination between Head Start services and community resources in order to foster strength and healthy living in our client’s lives. This role provides support in a case management style and acts as a liaison between families, staff, the community and other family-related resources.
Education and Experience:

Must have either a Bachelor’s (BA/BS) or Associate (AA/AAS) degree in Early Childhood Education, Family Development, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other similar human services related fields.

Must meet State Licensing requirements for First Aid Training, CPR, physical examination, and Applicant Background Studies.

Experience and ability to work with non-English speaking parents and children.

Knowledge of and ability to work with inter-agency preschool education, human services, and related providers.

Knowledge and experience in Head Start or Early Childhood programs.
Required Skills and Abilities:

Ability to relate to and work cooperatively with staff and families.

Ability to relate to and work comfortably with parents and children of low-income families.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Recruit children and families for Head Start, and provide recruitment activities in assigned communities.

Assist with conducting eligibility interviews to determine program eligibility.

Assist teachers in the Head Start classrooms as needed.

Prepare and maintain necessary documentation of services, activities and communications with families.

Build positive, goal-oriented relationships with families that honor and are responsive to the languages and cultures of the families served.

Connect families with resources and assist families in accessing essential on-going social, financial, educational and emergency services for children and families.

Assists managers, coordinators and specialists in providing parent training.

Conduct a minimum of 2 home visits per family per program year.

Work cooperatively with service area coordinators and specialists to ensure that individual services are integrated into a comprehensive program.

Maintain open lines of communication with all Head Start families and staff.

Attend and participate in assigned training and meetings.

Head Start Substitute Classroom Aide
Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent, or enrolled in a GED program.

Must be currently working toward obtaining a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), have obtained a CDA, Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree. Those that are working on their Child Development Associate Credential must obtain it within 2 years of being hired.

Experience or ability to work with pre-school children.
