Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in making a difference through Wright County Community Action. We are dedicated to offering volunteering opportunities that feel right for you. Apply for one of the positions below if you feel your skills would help us meet the needs of our community.

If you are unsure about how your skills meet the community’s needs, let us help you find the right match! Call us at 320-963-6500 ext. 271 to get started.

Aging Alliance Drive Team

Being a volunteer driver, allows you to volunteer when you are available. Using your own vehicle, transport older adults without transportation to important destinations and be reimbursed $.58/mile for each mile you drive. Your assistance helps older adults without transportation get to medical appointments, shop for groceries, keep personal care appointments, and remain independent in their homes. Reduce isolation and promote independence for our Wright County elders by joining the Aging Alliance Drive Team today!

Aging Alliance Handy Person Team

The Aging Alliance needs Volunteers for doing household improvement projects. If you’re handy, join us as a Handy Person! We are also looking for individuals to mow lawns and shovel snow. Volunteers are needed for one time and ongoing projects. If you or your group would like to volunteer, there are many different needs throughout the year. Register your club, youth group, or organization, for a volunteer outing by contacting our Aging Alliance Program Manager at (320) 963-6500 x 274.

When you assist a WCCA older adult client, you can help reduce falls, improve quality of life, and provide older adults with a safer, healthier home environment.

Food Shelf Team

Volunteer and leadership opportunities within our food security programs. From lead packing event coordinators to just helping out on load day, we will make sure your interests align. For a more hands off approach, coordinate a food drive or fundraiser to help sustain our food security programs for Wright County; or donate your non-perishables when you have a chance!

Thrift Shop Team

Secondhand goods are some people’s firsts. Home of the $5 bag WCCA special! The thrift shop is run entirely by WCCA volunteers. Have an eye for fashion? Or are you a people person? We have the role you’re looking for!

Head Start Team

Spend time in a Head Start classroom interacting with preschool children and being a positive role-model. Help children gain the social-emotional skills and academic skills they need to be successful in preschool and beyond. Lead a small group activity, read to children, help with coats and backpacks, or help monitor the playground. Share a special talent or skill with the group. The possibilities are endless! Whether it’s for a few minutes or an entire day, we love volunteers at Head Start.

Leadership Team

Team mentors, team leaders, volunteer task force opportunities, program specific coordinator opportunities, event coordination and more!

VITA Team

Volunteer Income Tax Assistant: Volunteer opportunities for tax reviewers and preparers. Certified training is provided. This year, we will have a variety of locations throughout Wright County allowing us to utilize their space for tax prep so stay tuned for further details!

On-Call/Special Event Volunteering Opportunities

For those who aren’t looking for that additional commitment, but would be willing to help out on an as-needed basis and for certain community outreach and service events.
